Dinner with parents

Went to Maude Road for the famous Heng Wah food before they went to watch Forbidden City... fried bee hoon, pa mee and fried fish... nice.... prefer this anytime with Hing Wah one..

Cafe Vic - Carlton Hotel Singapore

The food was not bad.... they are having a mix of asian delights like Satay, Mee Siam, Poh Piah, Teh Tarik, alot of malay food, all the rendangs and assam!

The Char Kway Teow had very good "wok-hei". The rest was ok... presentation was good. Staff were super friendly! Not much crowd. Weekday I guess. Had my oyster! Was not so bad! At least quite fresh!

Weekend

What a weekend.... been coughing nonstop. Feeling very tired.

Friday:
Went back Tampines for dinner. As I could not eat much, settled on teochew porridge at the food court. There was a pasar malam at the void deck and strolled along. Nothing much, the usual staff. Ramly burger, fried Keropok, kueh tu tu etc... Stalls selling toys, socks, handphone covers. There were kiddy rides and sin-seh selling their trade.

Went home, watched abit of TV, slept almost as early as 10pm

Saturday:

Was coughing from 3am till 6am. Could not sleep at all. So switched on the TV and watched Animal Planet. Steve Irwin was on... he was such an entertainer... passionate... A pity he has passed on. Went back to sleep at 6am. Didn't get up till 10am.

Went to Century Sq food court to have b'fast. Needed something to 'burn' my throat. So settled for Yong Tau Foo Soup...

Went to watch Monster House after that. I was wondering about this: Why did the kids need to light the dynamite wick before they threw it into the chimney? All they needed to do was throw the dynamite into the chimney. The fire which was coming from it would have been enough.

In the evening, went to the East Coast Lagoon to have dinner. Just behind the hawker centre, we saw something very interesting. The SKI360°. A fun place I must say! Here the participants are not pulled by a boat but by an overhead cable. The cables runs counter clockwise around the lake and the participants are, very simply, hooked up to the cable on the move. 1 hour pass starts from $30 for weekdays and $40 for weekends. Inclusive of free rental of life jackets, helmets and in house ski equipment.

There is even a F&B outlet where you can watch skiers and riders do their tricks or simply enjoy the nice view of the lagoon and the open sea. Will come back and try their food 1 day.

Killiney - Millenium Walk

They use kampong eggs, which are generally smaller, fresher and tastier, while having a slightly bigger egg yolk.
Do you know what French toast is? French toast is a common delicacy found in France; the bread is fried and served with bacon. But in Singapore... it is done differently. The colour of the bread is plain yellow, as the bread toast is being dipped in beaten eggs before being toasted over burning charcoal, which is a healthier cooking method.

A bread toast needs the combination of three main ingredients; they are bread, kaya and butter.
Feel that this one at Millenium walk is not nice!

A visit to BUDGET TERMINAL

Paid a visit to budget terminal. The Budget Terminal cost about S$45 million. Travellers can look forward to enjoying greater cost savings as the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) has introduced a total passenger charge of S$13 for travellers departing from the new terminal. This is much lower than the S$21 total charge at Changi Airport’s Terminals 1 and 2 and is also the lowest passenger charge for international flights in the region.... wow that is a saving of $7....would you save $7 for the difference? - as quoted by Xiaoming!

Kueh Pie Tee

What is Kueh Pie Tee? It is basically Shredded bamboo shoots and turnips garnished with shrimp in pie tee cups... but this one we ate at Plaza Cafe does not have shrimps... sad!

Indian Rojak

The Indians who form just over 7 percent of Singapore's population... Indian Rojak from Simei. Indian rojak, has some rather un-Indian ingredietns, such as Javanese tempeh goreng, Chinese fried tauhu (beancurd) and fishcake among the boiled potatoes, hard-boiled eggs in batter and a choice of fritters, all these eaten dipped in sweet, starchy chilli sauce.

There is a bike stealer in my neigbourhood!

This poor guy lost his bike... he pasted this on my lift landing... anyone seen his bike... please help him... poor thing to lost something so precious... am sure it means alot to him... please be nice and call him if you see his EXTRONICA...

It's not even rush hour!

I hate to take the mrt, especially from City Hall and it is like already 10pm... look... packed like sardines... and I had to wait for the next train which like will arrive in another 8 mins... Fare increase? Oh please!

Auntie... no eating in the MRT please!

RECENTLY, I have seen many commuters breaking the no eating rule on MRT trains.

Honestly, a sweet, water in a bottle is ok... but fruits, bubble tea, burgers and once I saw candy floss is surely a no no!

No one seems to bother about the ineffective existing no eating and no drinking announcement made frequently on trains.

THIS Aunty was happily eating her pear... we stared at her and she just looked away!

Durian Season again!

Durians.... $1 for 2 at Geylang... my mum has a huge tupperware of it in the fridge! Thanks to my dad!

Soon Yee (Klang) Bak Kut Teh

We found a new place along Sultan Gate... just opposite Concourse that serves nice Pig Trotters.

Their name card says they are the 1st to introduce Dry Bak Kut Tah to Singapore. But we did not try that. What is bak kut teh without the soup!

Haig Road Market

After NDP preview, we took bus 16 to Dunman Road and walk to Haig Road market for our dinner. We saw a few tables eating our favourite hokkien mee... the black colour type which we like.. and it was simply yummy! Would be even better if there were more sauce... just a little complain.. the mussles were not so fresh though!

Ordered my fav satay... this one has pineapple in the satay sauce! Wow!! packs a punch! Was so nice... the meat was juicy, tender and bbq just nice! Was so so so fulfilled after that!

Just look at the meat... so inviting! so yummy... so shiok!
