Are your feet happy?

Memphis: What's going on there? What are you doing?
Baby Mumble: [tap dancing] I'm happy!
Memphis: What's with your feet?
Baby Mumble: They're happy, too!
Happy Feet is a happy film that features cutting-edge CG while it teaches young and old about tolerance and talent.

The Departed vs WuJianDao

'The Departed' is based off on the Hong Kong movie 'WuJianDao'. I would say it is a ok movie but nothing extraordinary, not a master-piece, not a classic unlike the origin.

The scene, when Mark Wahlberg cites all of DiCaprio's family connection to the mob, takes too much time. They take a long time establishing how DiCaprio sells drugs with his cousin and finally get into Nicholson's gang. However after that it doesn't take long for Nicholson to give his total trust... quite duh! That was too fast!

Matt Damon is not as charming and cool as Andy Lau in his character.

Some scenes have a lot more impact in Infernal Affairs which are some of the most important in the story:

-The death of Wong/Queenan: in Infernal Affairs, Wong falls suddenly, lands on a taxi cab taking Yan by surprise. When Yan realizes Wong is dead you can feel the suffering Yan goes through by the loss of the only person who knows he's a cop but also/mainly by the loss of his friend. But in The Departed, we see Sheen falls in slow-mo until he hits the ground in a splash of blood. There's absolutely no connection, no friendship between DiCaprio and Sheen. We see DiCaprio almost on the verge of crying. But the impart is not as great as the one in Infernal Affairs

-Felt that the last part was in a mess, in The Departed, the black guy shows up, the 2nd mole shows up and everybody executes everybody. They just stand there to get shot. The scene seems really rushed unlike what happened in Infernal Affairs. Finally, was it really necessary to kill Damon and provide the audience with a happy ending?

I felt a lot more satisfied with Infernal Affairs. They have very different feel to them.

Nice song being translated

Guess what song is this? It is a lomantic song!

You and me, together take one little umbrella
Rain become heavier, I take care of you, you take care of me
The two of us meet so heavy rain,
The narrow road so difficult to walk, we have to carefully walk

You and me, together take one little umbrella
Rain become heavier, we wet wet, but still very happy
Two of us, together take one little umbrella
Wind become stronger, I take care of you, you take care of me

You and me, hearts together, don’t fear strong wind and heavy rain
At night, the road so dark, so difficult to walk, we have to carefully walk.

Translation of Guang Liang's - The First Time

When you look at me, I haven't opened my mouth
You've already figured out, I'm still not certain
I still haven't filled your requests

Is it that I'm thinking too much, or that you are also avoiding?
If you've really chosen me, I'll muster up the courage to accept
Unwittingly, my line of sight has begun to become evasive

Oh, the first time I said I loved you
Breathing was hard, my heart wouldn't stop trembling
Oh, the first time I held your two hands
I lost my way, didn't know where I was walking
That's the reason for us to be in love
That's the two of us protecting each other (to me)

Oh, the first time I kissed your deep dimples
I wanted to be sober, but I became giddy
Oh, the first time you laid down on my chest
We didn't part for 24 hours
That was the first time I knew what "everlasting and unchanging" meant

I feel that you are a part of me, I feel your pupils
It's the first time deciding, it can't be wrong

Oh, the first time I kissed your deep dimples
I wanted to be sober, but I became giddy
Oh, the first time you laid down on my chest
We didn't part for 24 hours
That was the first time I knew what "everlasting and unchanging" meant

Dream Singapore... Dream

Watched Singapore Dreaming. The movie was a very accurate and honest depiction of life in Singapore. So it was rather disturbing in that sense. Everything was quite real! Singapore Dreaming doesn't let the Singaporean in you escape. You are reminded of how shitty your life is: how much you dream to live in a better place than where you are in already. Isn't that what we always wanted?
Some familar scenes will be like mother nagging at her child for not studying. "Grow up and be a road sweeper issit?" The daily squeeze with others on public transport, owing people money or lending people money, hating the people with their flashy degrees, obeying your boss's stupid decisions just because you want to keep your job, and rejecting phonecalls from friends and acquaintances who suddenly want to contact you because they've recently became insurance salesmen.

What is the difference bewteen Jack Neo and this? Jack Neo's stuff gives hope to all because the characters end up happy and provided with solutions to major-life problems. But Singapore Dreaming doesn't do that for us. The ending is a stark one that's realistic, plausible, sad, and leaves a bitter aftertaste after the curtains close and the lights are switched on. And that's uncomfortable.
Singaporeans dream of the 5Cs - condominium, credit card, car, cash, country club. Now there is a 6th C: coffin. Give a new meaning to the phrase "work till you die in Singapore".
But I wonder why they talk about Towel Club for what!?

Weekend

What a weekend.... been coughing nonstop. Feeling very tired.

Friday:
Went back Tampines for dinner. As I could not eat much, settled on teochew porridge at the food court. There was a pasar malam at the void deck and strolled along. Nothing much, the usual staff. Ramly burger, fried Keropok, kueh tu tu etc... Stalls selling toys, socks, handphone covers. There were kiddy rides and sin-seh selling their trade.

Went home, watched abit of TV, slept almost as early as 10pm

Saturday:

Was coughing from 3am till 6am. Could not sleep at all. So switched on the TV and watched Animal Planet. Steve Irwin was on... he was such an entertainer... passionate... A pity he has passed on. Went back to sleep at 6am. Didn't get up till 10am.

Went to Century Sq food court to have b'fast. Needed something to 'burn' my throat. So settled for Yong Tau Foo Soup...
Went to watch Monster House after that. I was wondering about this: Why did the kids need to light the dynamite wick before they threw it into the chimney? All they needed to do was throw the dynamite into the chimney. The fire which was coming from it would have been enough.

In the evening, went to the East Coast Lagoon to have dinner. Just behind the hawker centre, we saw something very interesting. The SKI360°. A fun place I must say! Here the participants are not pulled by a boat but by an overhead cable. The cables runs counter clockwise around the lake and the participants are, very simply, hooked up to the cable on the move. 1 hour pass starts from $30 for weekdays and $40 for weekends. Inclusive of free rental of life jackets, helmets and in house ski equipment.
There is even a F&B outlet where you can watch skiers and riders do their tricks or simply enjoy the nice view of the lagoon and the open sea. Will come back and try their food 1 day.

I need him

I NEED HIM - forbidden city

like winter nights need fire,
like temple needs a shrine,
like lovers need desire,
like prophets need a sign.
I need him, can't he see?
I need him, to be mine...

Falling In Love

Falling in love is just a that
Falling
Out of control
Of your heart and your soul
Falling in love is just that
Falling
That's how it feels
Falling heads over heels

Why love when love hurts?
Why love when love ends?
I know how its feels
When it turns and pretends
It ends with the pain
And the making amends
Why love when there's peace
In the making of friends

Losing your heart is just that
Losing
Too high a cost
When it's given, its lost
Taking a risk is just that
Taking
Been there before I can't take any more

Why love when love hurts?
Why love when love ends?
I know how its feels
When it turns and pretends
It ends with the pain
And the making amends
Why love when there's peace
In the making of friends

Why Dream of Love?

Is this what eyes where never meant to see
The end of hope and all it meant to me
How can I find the strength to carry on another day
Without my pride there's nothing left to say
Is the way my life was meant to be?

Too late for me to say that I was wrong
Perhaps the weak believe that they are strong
I thought that if I tried I'd find a way to earn their trust
Yet all I've known and loved has turned to dust
It seems there was no way I could belong

The fire that burns within your heart
The pain that tears your life apart
The rain that falls from broken skies
The love I lost beneath the lies
And must I face the truth alone?
Is this the end of all I've known?
The years I gaves, the tears I cried
Why dream of love, when love has died?

I know one day the story will be told
And in the end the secrets will be sold
And will they look at me and say
I should have known the end
Perhaps I did but why should I pretend?
I only dreamt of love and growing old

The fire that burns within your heart
The pain that tears your life apart
The rain that falls from broken skies
The love I lost beneath the lies
And must I face the truth alone?
Is this the end of all I've known?
The years I gaves, the tears I cried
Why dream of love, when love has died?

Dragon Lady! - Forbidden City: Portrait of an Empress

Watched Forbidden City tonight. Preview show... it was yet another memorable musical. I simply love the musical. This is the 2nd time I am watching it! Better seats now... last time was cramped up in the corner, numbed legs cos of the seating! Kit Chan was superd, yet again! Impressive performance... just hope her voice dun crack when she sings so high... after all... a major role she is playing! Imagine she will be performing till 30th September!

Btw, this is the chair that the dragon lady used in the musical...

Funny man Hossan and Sebastian provided the laughter... even during curtain calls... of cos it was accidental, but it provided us with some laughter!

Can you spell 'Gabbana'

The Devil Wears Prada

A delightfully movie about the all-time most impossible boss in the history of impossible bosses. Meryl Streep. She is a goddess. Acting is so effortless for her... her performances are flawless People say she is the highlight of the film. Yes! She is!

Goofs in the movie that I read....

Continuity: When Andy is talking to Christian in the bar, her hair keeps changing position between shots.

Continuity: When Andy goes to the fashion party on Nate's Birthday her hair ornament is a white butterfly, but when she finally gets home it has changed to a white flower.

Continuity: The height of the candle in the cupcake alternates between shots.

Continuity: When Andy is having dinner with her father, his glasses are on/off between shots.

Continuity: When Andy Sacks is talking to Nigel, outside New York and photographing the "Urban Jungle" shoot, at the end of their talk Andy pushes her hair behind her ears with one thin strand in front of her ear. The next time you see her, a second later, all her hair is over her ears.

Factual errors: At the end of the movie when Miranda calls Andy in Paris, Andy looks at her T-mobile sidekick and its ringing. The phone shows Miranda's name and under it, it says, "Connecting." For it to say that, Andy would have had to call Miranda and her phone wouldn't have been ringing.

Miscellaneous: When Andy leaves the office the door clearly says pull but when everyone goes through it they push the door.
