Little Monster Brat

She was screaming at her top of her high pitched voice... I wanted to give her a tight slap on her face! This little horror monster! They should just be locked up!

Nice song being translated

Guess what song is this? It is a lomantic song!

You and me, together take one little umbrella
Rain become heavier, I take care of you, you take care of me
The two of us meet so heavy rain,
The narrow road so difficult to walk, we have to carefully walk

You and me, together take one little umbrella
Rain become heavier, we wet wet, but still very happy
Two of us, together take one little umbrella
Wind become stronger, I take care of you, you take care of me

You and me, hearts together, don’t fear strong wind and heavy rain
At night, the road so dark, so difficult to walk, we have to carefully walk.

Translation of Guang Liang's - The First Time

When you look at me, I haven't opened my mouth
You've already figured out, I'm still not certain
I still haven't filled your requests

Is it that I'm thinking too much, or that you are also avoiding?
If you've really chosen me, I'll muster up the courage to accept
Unwittingly, my line of sight has begun to become evasive

Oh, the first time I said I loved you
Breathing was hard, my heart wouldn't stop trembling
Oh, the first time I held your two hands
I lost my way, didn't know where I was walking
That's the reason for us to be in love
That's the two of us protecting each other (to me)

Oh, the first time I kissed your deep dimples
I wanted to be sober, but I became giddy
Oh, the first time you laid down on my chest
We didn't part for 24 hours
That was the first time I knew what "everlasting and unchanging" meant

I feel that you are a part of me, I feel your pupils
It's the first time deciding, it can't be wrong

Oh, the first time I kissed your deep dimples
I wanted to be sober, but I became giddy
Oh, the first time you laid down on my chest
We didn't part for 24 hours
That was the first time I knew what "everlasting and unchanging" meant

Cheap Teochew Dinner

Traditional Teochew Dinner from maxwell.. $12

TCC - Beautiful Decor

I really love the decor at TCC - Bugis. It was so cosy... I just love the way the whole place was done up tastefully!

Their plates were kind of cool too :P

We Tried the Beef Mozza-Tofu and their Royal Crumble.... it was so so only! So.... decor nice... food ok... hmmm....

Bao Today!

I was reading ieatishootipost's post about this dim sum place which I have passby frequently but yet to try it.... by the way, he has a very nice makan blog too... do go read...

We ordered the Assorted Meat Open-Face Buns (what a name right!?) @$2.50. "Its like eating claypot chicken but with pau skin instead of rice. "
The Fish Roe and Pork Shao Mai ($2.80) was quite good. It had a generous filling of prawns. The pork was also not the mince type which you find at the usual dim sum places. This had chunks in it! Good! I like it!
Their so called Signature dish.. Black Sesame Buns ($1.80) It is filled with peanuts... abit like what you find in the peanut ah balling!
Scallop and bamboo shoot dumpling was quite expensive. @$3.50, it was like any Har Kow with a small tini piece of Scallop on it.
Total bill came up to $17. Inclusive of 2 drinks and a Pan fried Radish Cake....

Oscar FoodCourt - Anchor Point

This is how they make Paper Prata - Cool isn't it?!

$3 for this... Honey Paper Prata.... expensive isn't it?

Antworks - I'm a Myrmecology

My Antworks... I found it at last! After searching everywhere for about a year! And my adventure begins!

1st problem:- They didn't teach you how to catch the ants! Well, you can order... but I doubt they will sent it to Singapore... this is a NASA project... the order form only says US and Canada... nothing mentioned about Singapore!

Next, the ants! Another problem! Suppose to be Harvesters Ants, but I do not know how Harvester ants are like... can they be found in Singapore? The park below my block are full of red ants... so I thought... should do la... Had a hard time catching them... we killed/injured 3-4 in the process. 2 was crushed by the box, another one was limping after we accidently crash it's leg.
Was Suppose to have at least 20-25 ants inside. How the hell do you catch 20-25 ants and put everything in without the ones inside crawling out? But in the end, we spend about half an hour and only had 4. We gave up! Telling ourselves that we will try again!

So, I am now known as a Myrmecologist... (Myrmecology is the study of ants (either scientifically or as a hobby). By studying the behavior of the ants in my ANTWORKS, I become a myrmecologist... kekekeke.... my own discovery channel in my room... the instructions booklet says the ants will start to tunnel in after 24-48 hours, they will find nutrient in the gel and the gel is suppose to be good for them... the translucent gel not only serves as a tunneling medium for the ants, but it is their food and water source as well. But I guess the ants didn't read this booket before! They didn't know the gels were good... they just didn't bother about the gel... they bite it a little and gave up! I wish I could tell them... EAT... DIG.... you are suppose to do that! The holes that you see in the gel are actually made by me... it is suppose to give help the ants start tunneling. The ones nearer to the edge are 'eaten' by them. At least it is 1 of them.

The next day, nothing happened... they were just walking around, sleeping and idling... we went out lunch and came back and guess what happened!! All were dead! Well... maybe these are not Harvester Ants, so they cannot get use to the gel... so will try again! Sorry to these 4 little red ants... "I thought a $39.90 bungalow will do you good!" Sigh!

Dream Singapore... Dream

Watched Singapore Dreaming. The movie was a very accurate and honest depiction of life in Singapore. So it was rather disturbing in that sense. Everything was quite real! Singapore Dreaming doesn't let the Singaporean in you escape. You are reminded of how shitty your life is: how much you dream to live in a better place than where you are in already. Isn't that what we always wanted?
Some familar scenes will be like mother nagging at her child for not studying. "Grow up and be a road sweeper issit?" The daily squeeze with others on public transport, owing people money or lending people money, hating the people with their flashy degrees, obeying your boss's stupid decisions just because you want to keep your job, and rejecting phonecalls from friends and acquaintances who suddenly want to contact you because they've recently became insurance salesmen.

What is the difference bewteen Jack Neo and this? Jack Neo's stuff gives hope to all because the characters end up happy and provided with solutions to major-life problems. But Singapore Dreaming doesn't do that for us. The ending is a stark one that's realistic, plausible, sad, and leaves a bitter aftertaste after the curtains close and the lights are switched on. And that's uncomfortable.
Singaporeans dream of the 5Cs - condominium, credit card, car, cash, country club. Now there is a 6th C: coffin. Give a new meaning to the phrase "work till you die in Singapore".
But I wonder why they talk about Towel Club for what!?

Funny Joke

A tour bus driver is driving with a bus load of seniors down a highway when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady. She offers him a handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.

After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she hands him another handful of peanuts. She repeats this gesture about five more times.

When she is about to hand him another batch again he asks the little old lady, "Why don't you eat the peanuts yourselves?".
"We can't chew them because we've no teeth", she replied.

The puzzled driver asks, "Why do you buy them then?"
The old lady replied, "We just love the chocolate around them."

There are still Honest Citizens out there

My mum was travelling in No 10 bus when it jerked and the contents in her bag dropped on the floor. She thought she picked up everything. She alighted and soon realised her Bank Book, Cards and Cash were missing. She was quite upset about the whole issue and her carelessness.

Well to cut the long story short, she made a police report and 3 hours later, she receive a call from a police station that her belongings are found. We just expected the cards and book to be returned. However, everything was intact, the cash and a cash cheque.

To the kind couple who surrendered everything to the police station. Thank you for your kind act and God Bless You.

Weekend

What a weekend.... been coughing nonstop. Feeling very tired.

Friday:
Went back Tampines for dinner. As I could not eat much, settled on teochew porridge at the food court. There was a pasar malam at the void deck and strolled along. Nothing much, the usual staff. Ramly burger, fried Keropok, kueh tu tu etc... Stalls selling toys, socks, handphone covers. There were kiddy rides and sin-seh selling their trade.

Went home, watched abit of TV, slept almost as early as 10pm

Saturday:

Was coughing from 3am till 6am. Could not sleep at all. So switched on the TV and watched Animal Planet. Steve Irwin was on... he was such an entertainer... passionate... A pity he has passed on. Went back to sleep at 6am. Didn't get up till 10am.

Went to Century Sq food court to have b'fast. Needed something to 'burn' my throat. So settled for Yong Tau Foo Soup...
Went to watch Monster House after that. I was wondering about this: Why did the kids need to light the dynamite wick before they threw it into the chimney? All they needed to do was throw the dynamite into the chimney. The fire which was coming from it would have been enough.

In the evening, went to the East Coast Lagoon to have dinner. Just behind the hawker centre, we saw something very interesting. The SKI360°. A fun place I must say! Here the participants are not pulled by a boat but by an overhead cable. The cables runs counter clockwise around the lake and the participants are, very simply, hooked up to the cable on the move. 1 hour pass starts from $30 for weekdays and $40 for weekends. Inclusive of free rental of life jackets, helmets and in house ski equipment.
There is even a F&B outlet where you can watch skiers and riders do their tricks or simply enjoy the nice view of the lagoon and the open sea. Will come back and try their food 1 day.

I need him

I NEED HIM - forbidden city

like winter nights need fire,
like temple needs a shrine,
like lovers need desire,
like prophets need a sign.
I need him, can't he see?
I need him, to be mine...

Samsui Chicken - Soup Restaurant

Soup Restuarant - Causeway point.

Ordered the Samsui Chicken, Pork Ribs Steam Rice and Chicken with Chinese Sausage.

The Samsui Chicken simply means steaming a plump chicken marinated in ginger. Shredded ginger would then be tossed in some stock and sesame oil and served as a dip. The cut up boneless pieces of chicken are dipped in the ginger sauce and (this is the best part), wrapped in lettuce and then chomped. They place the de-bones chicken around a huge round platter with a bowl of the ginger dip in the middle. A stack of nicely trimmed lettuce leaves accompanies it. You simply pick, dip, wrap and eat!

"The Magic of Chongqing pot" - Suntec City

The soup.... 'Ma La Tang' and 'Old Faithful Chicken Stock" boiled for hours.

The 1st round of food.... the prawns super fresh and sweet! The pork ball and slice beef was good too. We had the most of that!

The Magic lies in the sauce there. What is special about this place is that it offers four sauces: sesame paste, sesame oil, fresh chillies and chilli padi with garlic. And you are suppose to mix all of it.

The decor.... the atmosphere of an opera house is created here with the framed colorful and large masks of famous generals from the era of 'The Three Kingdoms' adorning the walls.

What i find special is the little 'desserts' they served alongside the buffet dishes...supposed to relieve the ma la taste. Definitely worth a try! There was man tou with condense milk... super yummy! The 'ba bao' tea is good too. @$4 for free flow. The Eight Treasures Tea with its healing properties restores the body's yin yang balance after a spicy meal.

Killiney - Millenium Walk

They use kampong eggs, which are generally smaller, fresher and tastier, while having a slightly bigger egg yolk.
Do you know what French toast is? French toast is a common delicacy found in France; the bread is fried and served with bacon. But in Singapore... it is done differently. The colour of the bread is plain yellow, as the bread toast is being dipped in beaten eggs before being toasted over burning charcoal, which is a healthier cooking method.

A bread toast needs the combination of three main ingredients; they are bread, kaya and butter.
Feel that this one at Millenium walk is not nice!

Délifrance's French styled Cafés

Délifrance now has offer a comprehensive menu of wholesome cuisine to whet your appetite. Below are what we ate!
Cream of Mushroom soup... anytime better than the one we had at New York New York

Asian Delights... beef curry with bun... just so so only.

Falling In Love

Falling in love is just a that
Falling
Out of control
Of your heart and your soul
Falling in love is just that
Falling
That's how it feels
Falling heads over heels

Why love when love hurts?
Why love when love ends?
I know how its feels
When it turns and pretends
It ends with the pain
And the making amends
Why love when there's peace
In the making of friends

Losing your heart is just that
Losing
Too high a cost
When it's given, its lost
Taking a risk is just that
Taking
Been there before I can't take any more

Why love when love hurts?
Why love when love ends?
I know how its feels
When it turns and pretends
It ends with the pain
And the making amends
Why love when there's peace
In the making of friends

Why Dream of Love?

Is this what eyes where never meant to see
The end of hope and all it meant to me
How can I find the strength to carry on another day
Without my pride there's nothing left to say
Is the way my life was meant to be?

Too late for me to say that I was wrong
Perhaps the weak believe that they are strong
I thought that if I tried I'd find a way to earn their trust
Yet all I've known and loved has turned to dust
It seems there was no way I could belong

The fire that burns within your heart
The pain that tears your life apart
The rain that falls from broken skies
The love I lost beneath the lies
And must I face the truth alone?
Is this the end of all I've known?
The years I gaves, the tears I cried
Why dream of love, when love has died?

I know one day the story will be told
And in the end the secrets will be sold
And will they look at me and say
I should have known the end
Perhaps I did but why should I pretend?
I only dreamt of love and growing old

The fire that burns within your heart
The pain that tears your life apart
The rain that falls from broken skies
The love I lost beneath the lies
And must I face the truth alone?
Is this the end of all I've known?
The years I gaves, the tears I cried
Why dream of love, when love has died?
