AZABU SABO

Originating from Tokyo, Japan, Azabu Sabo serves authentic Japanese desserts and tea in a stylish contemporary setting.

We ordered the Hamburger Steak with Radish and Salmon Rice Wrapped with Seaweed. ($14.80)
This is the Omletter with Crab Meat in Soup with Mince Beef, Pork rice.

This is a close up of how the individual dishes are like... the Salmon in the rice was kind of mini. The hamburger steak was tasty... salty? The mince meat with rice went very well with the crab meat with omelette soup.

Azabu Sabo has made its name especially around its large selection of not so light desserts... they built its reputation on serving traditional Japanese sweet treats. In fact, desserts are listed first on the menu, before the Bento boxes and noodles. We ordered the Mattchazen - Green Tea Ice Cream in a Bowl of Dumpling & Red Bean Paste and Ice Cream with Mango.

The Mattchazen was served with a sweet, thick red bean paste and plain glutinous rice flour balls (tang yuan). We could find no fault with the ice cream, which was made from pure Hokkaido milk. The bitterness was subtle and actually very pleasant, texture wise, the ice cream was smooth and silky, melting the moment it touched our tongues. The chewy glutinous balls added a third dimension to the dessert’s texture and flavour.

"The Mango Ice was a generous serving of creamy shaved ice with fresh mango cubes, topped with tasty soft ice cream and rich mango sauce. Worth mentioning was the soft ice cream that was exceptionally smooth with a fragrant taste of maple-syrup sweetness. And of cos, the unique little pot filled with extra mango sauce.". - Gladdy
