Happy Mid Autumn Festival

Happy Mid-Autumn Festival! According to the Chinese calendar, today is the fifteenth day of the eighth lunar month. Lantern, Piglet Biscuits known by the Cantonese as "Jue Zai Bang", Pomelo and of course Mooncakes.... I've never gone ga-ga over them. Ever since young, I've never really enjoy it... kind of too sweet for me. Well, this is probably a good thing for me considering the amount of calories that mooncakes contain.

Interesting facts about mooncakes!
  • A mooncake holds up to 14 teaspoons of sugar (the recommended daily dose is 10 or less)
  • A mooncake has also up to 6 teaspoons of fat - half the recommended daily limit
  • A 180g mooncake contains 800 calories - equivalent to three bowls of white rice, and more than 1/3 of a regular person's daily caloric intake.
